One of our proudest renovation projects, Brown Early Childhood Center brings modern design, technologies, and programming to the school to support enriching experiences for teachers and young children.
Since the school’s original construction in 1948, design philosophies, building products, and teaching methods have evolved, leaving the early childhood center behind.
To revitalize the center and serve students for decades to come, Formative created a new program and design to energize the school for the 21st century.
Renewed classrooms, additional restrooms, accessibility upgrades, circulation, and support spaces are designed within the existing envelope.
With new stucco, flooring and wall finishes, casework, exterior glazing and doors, lay-in ceilings, LED lighting, and mechanical units and electrical services throughout, the 24,175sf renovation improves efficiency, utilization, and comfort.
Each classroom received additional storage and new ADA-compliant restrooms, hand-washing sinks, and drinking fountain access.
Main circulation cores are activated with casework and display space.
The early childhood center inspired a modern design that is simple and durable while also welcoming and distinct.
Constructed on an active campus, the center exemplifies Formative’s careful planning and attention to function as all renovations were completed without disruption to the school calendar and student, staff, and parent activities.
The renovation completed in time for the new Fall semester. It has been met with excitement and gratitude from teachers and students alike.
